Öz

Klasik kütüphanecilik değişim denizinde boğulmaktadır. ABD'de, özellikle son 20 yılda mesleğimiz çok değişmiştir. 1976'ya kadar 15 kütüphanecilik okulu veya bölümü kapanmış ve gerisi ciddi bir dönüşüm geçirmiştir. Son 20 yılda, kütüphanecilik eğitimi eskisi kadar tekdüze olmaktan çıkmıştır. Yeni ders programları büyük farklılaşmalar göstermektedir. Kütüphane hizmetleri misyonunun amacı da genişlemiştir. Öğrenci tipi, öğrenim biçimi de değişikliklere uğramaktadır. Diğer taraftan bugünün kütüphanecisi, yaşam boyu kendini eğitme gereksinimi ile karşı karşıyadır.
