Visually impaired users of libraries and information centres have exactly the same rights of independent selection of reading material and also equal access of information as other users. The article is about the historical development of this special service in Turkey. Provement of this special service by assistive technological solution and information technology has removed the barriers to information access for his user group. In Turkey, in recent years, it has been observed that the Departments of Information and Documentation Management, National Library and university libraries are also successfully involved in this special service.
