Examples from Archive Documents Belonging to the Ottoman Medical Librarianship in the Second Half of the 19th Century

In the study, the books and the archive records on various sources that were donated and obtained by purchasing in the Library of Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane, the leading medical school of the medical education and training which started to institutionalize in the Ottomans in the 19th century, are examined. While these archive records are evidences of the westernization trend in medical science in that period, they also show that how Ottomans gave importance to medical education and Europe’s scientific researches in medical science in that period, and the necessary correspondence for obtaining books.
